Focus group to develop content and structure of the guidebook on monitoring of local self-governance
On January 25, 2012 Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research (CIESR) conducted a focus group to develop content and structure of the guidebook on monitoring of local self-governance for regional non-governmental organizations and the Media. Experts involved in the project, donor organization and up to 10 different NGO and media sector representatives (including regional organizations) were attending the meeting. Dr. Davit Narmania, executive director of the CIESR was facilitating the focus group. Invited guests shared their views, recommendations and comments in respect to the structure and content of the guidebook.

Public Opinion on Local Government and Local Democracy Development
On December 7, an annual report (2009-2010) on the development of local democracy was unveiled in the first part of the conference in the Courtyard Marriot Hotel. The report deals with local government changes and the decentralization process in 2009-2010. The annual report was prepared in scopes of the Human Rights and Governance Grants Program (HRGGP), OSGF. One of the editors and reporter was the executive director of the Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research, Dr. Davit Narmania.
The guide - Effective implementation of the Village Support State Program was presented on the second part of the conference. In addition, researcher-experts described existing situation in the beneficiary municipalities (municipality of Ambrolauti, Senaki and Gori) and project outcomes. The hosts of the conference were: Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research (CIESR) and National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALA).

Guidebook on monitoring of local self-governance for regional non-governmental organizations and the Media
From December 2011, Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research in cooperation with Eurasia Partnership Foundation has launched the implementation of the project – “Guidebook on monitoring of local self-governance for regional non-governmental organizations and the Media”.

Conference “Eastern Partnership and Socio-Economic Policy of Georgia”

On December 5, at hotel Old Tbilisi conference and discussion was held by the Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research (CIESR) and Center for Economic Problems (CEPR) on the following issues: “Eastern Partnership and Socio-Economic Policy of Georgia”. The conference aimed to hold discussions on the socio-economic issues in respect to the EU integration, as well as put emphases on the challenges that face our country. The books “Eastern Partnership and Socio-Economic Policy of Georgia” were given to the guests. In scopes of the conference the following topics were presented:
  1. EU and Georgia: the way to the deep and comprehensive free trade agreement;
  2. Sustainable development system in the context of EU and challenges of Georgia;
  3. Consumer rights protection in the EU and Georgia;
  4. Social protection and social security system in Georgia.

From December 2011, Caucasian Institute for Economic and Social Research has launched the implementation of the project – “Increasing purposefulness and efficiency of public funds allocated from Reserve Fund of Tbilisi budget 2011-2012 and for pre-school educational institutions through monitoring” by the Open Society Georgia Foundation financial support.

Informational Meeting with Media on the Social-Economic aspects of Euro integration

Caucasus Institute for Economic and Social Research conducted Informational meeting-discussion for Media working on Euro integration and Social-Economic issues on the topic: "Eastern Partnership” and the social – economic policy” on 29 November, 2011. Discussion was focused on the following thematic directions: 1.  European union and Georgia: Benefits and Challenges; 2. National Platform of Civil Society of Georgia and its role in EU integretion process
